Have you studied Photography? I'm intrigued to know whether or not a qualification in Photography has made you a better, or indeed a worse photographer. Or has there been no change? This week, The Photography Blog asks whether or not a Photography Degree is worth the paper it's written on. Graduation in any field these days doesn't mean that you'll immediately get a job in your desired area. Not these days. Goodbye 2012 - Big FeatureOne more year is almost over....
For me it was a pretty normal year, neither really good nor really bad. But in regard to Photography it was a great year for me.
I got my first DSLR Camera and i even earned some money with my photos. I love taking photos and i hope that this will stay the same next year.
Within this year i got over 1800 watchers and that really means a lot to me. Thank you so much ! ♥
For now i have some amazing photos from 2012 for you, i am sorry that the Feature got so long, but there where so many amazing photos that i just couldn't stop.
 I hope that all of you will have an amazing year 2013 !

Michael's winning entry is "Rootage".

I find this image remarkable in several ways. Michael has focussed on the bare trunk and gnarled roots of the tree rather than any foliage. The roots spreading out as they do help draw the eye into the trunk, which then takes our vision to a diagonal and then a horizontal rock feature which, in turn draws the eye through the rock face - all excellent compositional technique. What is most appealing to me, however, is the variety of textures apparent in the image. You can think of the root structure as a large scale pattern, with the bark of the tree as a medium scale, and the rock face as a variable scale texture. The very good local contrast and overall tonality enhances these details.
