What a great photo! I love how natural it is, it feels like the viewer could actually be there looking at this. Very neat!
The colors are wonderful! The browns and purples of the bee and flowers stand out nicely against the soft colors of the background. I also like the sharp focus on the bee, and how we can see even the smallest of details.
I think this photo could have a better composition. Right now the photo is quite busy and it's hard to focus on just the bee. Perhaps if you had used the rule of thirds more, it would bring the eye to the bee right away. I also think you could've blurred the plants on the way left, or tried not to capture them at all since they really don't add anything to the piece.
I would have to agree with Luckydesigns on some points, this is a really nice shot. The contrast between the bee and the flowers is strong but not so strong that it is overwhelming. It is very pleasing to look at but because of the amount of detail and shine that you can see in the bee, it doesn't feel like could actually be there. This isn't your fault at all, I know it takes a lot of skill to get an image like that. Its just not what my eyes are use to seeing and, again, that is not your fault at all. Its almost hyperreal if I may say. I love how you can see the texture of the bees wings, that is fantastic!
One other point that I didn't agree with Luckydesigns is the focus. Using the rule of thirds is great in most cases, but seeing as there is so much going on, I think it would have harmed the photo if you were to push it a bit more to one side. I think because the bee is almost in the center brings just the right amount of focus to the image. As soon as I looked at the image my attention was instantly drawn to the bee and then traveled around the rest of the image. Very nice!!
The rule of thirds could've gone either way - perhaps the shot would've been better if the bee was pushed all the way to the left rule of thirds. However, we have no idea if it was even more distracting to the right, so it's hard to tell.
I guess so, I was assuming that there was flowers all around. I attempted something like this back when I first started messing around with photography, man was it hard and my isn't even half as good as this one. I guess I could see pushed more to the right portion of the image but who knows right?
