BEHIND THE IMAGE..
Amanda (6032218) on Horseland was hosting a 30k layout contest - I decided to enter. :D

For some reason the image is all pixelated ( is that a word ? ) - but the stock images were plenty big. HELP?!

I suck at manes and tails. :XD:
No seriously, I do. I tried to paint the tail four times and finally I just gave up and used one of arrsistable's brushes. :frustrated:

I also like the blending of the foal in the grass, but the horse blending is HORRIBLE. Suggestions?

Well yeah. Amanda wanted a paint horse ( preferably black and white, but these horses fit together so perfectly, I couldn't resist ^^ ) on a cliff/water/mountain-ish area with it's foal. Hopefully this looks okay!

OHMYGOSH. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT TAIL!!! :puke::puke::puke:

Haha, anyways, this was also my first time drawing the eyes - I love the foal's eye but the horse's eye is harder to see.

I know there are PLENTY of errors in this one, but I haven't made a manipulation in weeks...I've become a bit rusty. :hmm:

i love it! (i'm on my stock account at the moment, haha :XD:)
as for suggestions for getting the feet blending right, you can do what i do for my horse-in-grass manips:

1) get the eraser tool on these settings, and erase a fair amount of the hoof/leg you want the grass to cover (you can use a layer mask for this, reccomended): hardness: 30-50%, opacity: 5-10%, size: about the same width as the horse's hoof.

2) take the eyedropper and pluck a few colors out of the grass

3) then get a 1px brush on about 90% hardness and 100% opacity and draw in some grass over the hooves, using those colors.

it takes a while to learn, but it gives a nice effect.
